Andrew Morrell headed home his eighth of the season after Efe Sodje’s cross found the Shakers front-man inside the six-yard box in first-half injury time.
But the visitors could count themselves unlucky to go in down at half-time as Ryan Lowe narrowly shot over ten minutes before.
Laurence Wilson missed a simple header on 58 as Chester kept pushing for the equaliser against a shaky Bury side undone by Ryan Cresswell's red-card for a rash challenge on Lowe on 47 minutes.

Barry Roche was in fine-form to secure a draw for Morecambe in this bore-draw at The New Meadow as play-off hopefuls Shrewsbury stuttered.
Grant Holt had the best effort of a disappointing first-half but Roche saved his strike on the stroke of half-time.
Terry Dunfield should have done better when Jim Bentley’s clearance landed at his feet on 64 minutes, but he failed to find the target from the edge of the box.

Adam Stansfield scored his tenth of the season with a neat, curling-shot from 18 yards to put promotion-hopefuls Exeter one-nil up with only five minutes played.
John Miles levelled the score half-an-hour later with a well-placed finished from close range after Stanley had piled on the pressure after their early setback.

Steve Jones was leading the charge for the home side but his effort three minutes later but Joe Anyon saved smartly to deny the home side.
The front-man had nearly opened the scoring for the Bantams with only six minutes gone but his long-range strike narrowly skimmed the left-hand post.
Despite time running out on their undefeated Valley Parade run, it was Vale who had the best of the efforts but Paul Marshall failed to find the target in injury time

Tom Craddock fired home a 68th minute penalty after Shaun Brisley handled in the area to hand Luton all three points in their momentous survival bid.
The basement boys spurned an early chance when Craddock failed to find the target from the edge of the area with only six minutes gone.
It took until first-half injury time for The Hatters to have a chance of equal quality but Jon Brain saved smartly from Kevin Nicholls.

Rotherham’s Reuben Reid opened proceedings with a cool finish from just inside the box after Michael Cummings opened the away side with a clever pass.
The Milers top-scorer doubled his tally on 58, with an accurately-placed shot from the edge of the area to put the Millers in cruise control.

John O’Flynn added his 16th goal of the season when nodded in from close-range with three minutes left to capture all three points in this high-octane thriller.
Albert Adomah unleashed a rocket to the top-corner for Barnet on 63 minutes but Adran Pataluea quickly replied to pull the Bees back with a thundering header only a minute later.
Michael O’Connor’s scored his first of the season and put Lincoln in command on 15 minutes after Aaron Brown set up his low, neat strike from just inside the box.

Myles Weston condemned Bournemouth to their first loss in seven with a cunning low-shot on 39 after veteran striker Delroy Facey’s cross threw the home side into disarray.
Bournemouth were thrown a lifeline two minutes later when Shwan Jalal saved a Jamie Forrester penalty after the keeper had brought the experienced front-man down in front of goal.
