Deco steps up rehabilitation

by Laurent Picard , 23 March 2009

Chelsea midfielder Deco is doing intensive rehabilitation work to accelerate his return from a muscle injury.

The Blues would prefer to see the midfielder rest in order to be available for his club duty after the international break, but Deco has revealed that he is pushing hard to play for Portugal on Saturday.

La Selecao are due to play a vital World Cup qualifier with Sweden in Porto, and Deco would be delighted to represent his adoptive country at the Dragoes.

“Being part of the national team is always a pleasure and I hope I will play,” he told Noticias.

“But it depends on the way my body will react this week.

“I am doing an intensive work to accelerate my recovery.

“I feel good, but it’s very difficult to assess a muscle injury.

“Winning this match is vital to us.”
