Issues at the top and bottom of the Blue Square Premier are coming to the boil and there’s a real six-pointer on Monday, with Woking playing host to Cambridge live on Setanta Sports.
Woking are struggling to keep their heads above water, while Cambridge are well placed to claim a play-off spot.
Setanta commentator Steve Bower is aware the Blue Square Premier is capable of providing shocks aplenty, but he expects Cambridge to continue their fine run of form.
”Form would say it will be a stroll for Cambridge, but this league has a habit of throwing up crazy results,” Bower said on Setanta Sports News. ”Having said that, it would be a huge shock if Woking were to get the three points.
”It is a big game at the top and the bottom, but Cambridge have been one of the form teams – they’ve won eight of their last eleven games and with seven games left to play they look certainties to get in the play-offs.
”Woking are a club with a great tradition and history, they have been 18 years in this division, but they are in real danger.
”They start tonight in the relegation zone and with some of the big boys to play. If an unlikely win were to occur, they would climb out of the drop zone so it is a huge incentive. But it all points to Cambridge as they have been the form team since the turn of the year.”
Bower feels Cambridge are too far behind to catch leaders Burton, but expects them to cement their place in the play-offs.
He added: ”If Burton were to slip up at the team Cambridge are the team most likely to catch them.
”A couple of weeks ago I might have said Cambridge could catch Burton, after they lost three on the spin, but I can’t see it now. Burton have recovered well and with eight games to go they know four wins will probably do it.
”Cambridge have championship form and need to keep winning in case Burton slip up, but the aim must be to finish second or third which will allow them to play their play-off second leg at home.”
