Alan White saw red after just 90 seconds for an elbow on Damian Spencer who had to be carried off due to the injury and Brentford took full advantage when Alan Bennett calmly stroked home on 34 minutes.
And Clarke, who scored nine goals on loan with The Quakers earlier in the season, got the decisive second just before the break when he headed in David Hunt’s free-kick.
Clarke grabbed a sweet second on 53 minutes but Pawel Abbott pulled a goal back moments later after being teed up by David Poole.
Port Vale 1 Wycombe 1
Lee Sawyer’s late strike against Port Vale left Wycombe on the brink of promotion from League Two.
Wycombe should have taken the lead on seven minutes when Matt Bloomfield’s shot was well kept out by Chris Martin only for Lee Sawyer to send the rebound wide.
Front pairing Chris Zebroski and John Akinde also missed gilt-edged chances in the first half and the visitors were made to pay when Colllins fired in from a corner.
The Chairboys equalised ten minutes from time when substitute Jon-Paul Pittman’s brilliant run and cutback was converted by Sawyer to leave them needing just a point in their final game against Notts County.
Aldershot 2 Chester 2
Kirk Hudson’s brilliant double for Aldershot effectively sealed Chester’s relegation into the Blue Square Premier.
Chester did take the lead through Ryan Lowe inside a minute after keeper Nikki Bull saved his initial penalty for a foul on young striker Lloyd Ellams.
But The Shots drew level on 15 minutes when Hudson beat the offside trap and superbly lobbed keeper Jamie Spencer.
Hudson then topped that effort with a superb volley 11 minutes after the break but Chester controversially equalised when Ellams poked the ball into an empty net with keeper Bull down injured however they will still need a miracle to stay up.
Bournemouth 2 Grimsby 1
Bournemouth came from behind to defeat nine-man Grimsby but both team’s safety was effectively confirmed at Dean Court.
The Mariners took the lead five minutes before the break when Barry Conlon’s flick-on was helped into the net by Nathan Jarman.
But their joy was short-lived when Danny Boshell picked up his second yellow card in first-half injury time and just a minute after the break The Cherries were level when Liam Feeney scored.
It was all Bournemouth and on 80 minutes they grabbed the winner through Steve Fletcher’s emphatic finish before Joe Widdowson also saw red for Grimsby.
Exeter 2 Morecambe 2
Stuart Drummond netted twice for Morecambe as Exeter missed the chance to effectively secure their spot in the automatic promotion places.
Things were not going according to the script for The Grecians when Michael Twiss whipped in a free-kick which Drummond headed in.
But Exeter hit back with two quick-fire goals after the break firstly through Dean Moxey sweeping in Stuart Fleetwood’s pass as The Shrimps’ offside trap was ripped apart.
And moments later Ryan Harley struck a thunderbolt from 18 yards but it was déjà vu for Exeter on 79 minutes when Drummond sidefooted in another Twiss free-kick.
Gillingham 0 Bury 0
Bury’s chances of squeezing into the automatic promotion places was dented after they were held to a goalless draw against play-off bound Gillingham.
The Gills dominated throughout but Bury keeper Wayne Brown was in superb form denying both Mark McCammon and Josh Wright in the first half.
Bury’s best chance came immediately after the break when leading scorer Andy Bishop flashed a header just wide.
But it continued to be one-way traffic with midfielder Stuart Lewis’ volley rattling The Shakers’ crossbar before Steve Haslam cleared substitute Dennis Oli’s shot off the line.
Bradford 3 Rotherham 0
Veteran Peter Thorne rolled back the years to bag a double for Bradford and move them a step closer to the League Two play-offs.
The 35-year-old former Stoke City striker opened the scoring for Stuart McCall’s men after just 12 minutes when he turned home Nicky Law’s corner.
And Thorne doubled the advantage ten minutes before the half-time break when Law was again the provider.
Steve Jones wrapped up the victory 18 minutes from time when Law picked up his third assist of the season.
Macclesfield 2 Barnet 1
Macclesfield guaranteed their survival in League Two but had to thwart a second half comeback from battling Barnet.

Albert Adomah drew The Bees level eight minutes into the second half when he was found in space in the area by Neal Bishop.
But Kristian Dennis snatched all three points for Macclesfield nine minutes from time when he crashed home Bell’s corner.
Notts County 0 Dagenham 3
Dagenham maintained their League Two play-off place with a comfortable win over Notts County at Meadow Lane.
The Magpies had dominated proceedings early on but Sam Saunders opened the scoring for The Daggers 34th minute, firing into the top corner from the outside the box.
And Matt Ritchie doubled their lead three minutes before the interval when he fired home a stunning strike from over 30 yards out.
Ritchie added his second and Dagenham’s third two minutes from time when he slotted the ball past Magpies keeper Kevin Pilkington.
Luton 1 Rochdale 1
Luton’s final home game as a Football League club ended in a draw as promotion-chasing Rochdale came from behind to snatch a point.
Tom Craddock kept his cool from the spot after half and hour to give Luton the lead after Asa Hall had been fouled in the area by Nathan Stanton.
Rochdale boss Keith Hill rung the changes at half time bringing on Adam Rundle and Joe Thompson.
And it paid dividends as Rundle was on hand to net the equaliser shortly before the hour mark as he turned Simon Ramsden’s cross past Dean Brill.
Accrington 1 Chesterfield 0
Accrington ended Chesterfield’s fading chances of reaching the play-offs as they swept aside the ten-man Spireites at The Crown Ground.
Robert Grant scored the only goal of the game five minutes into the second half when he crashed the ball past keeper Tommy Lee from Peter Cavanagh’s cross.
But the game ended in controversy as Chesterfield leading goal scorer Jack Lester was sent off for using foul and abusive language.
Shrewsbury 0 Lincoln City 0
Shrewsbury failed to keep pace in the race for the play-offs as they couldn’t find a way past Lincoln at The New Meadow.
Paul Murray could have snatched the points in the dying minutes for Paul Simpson’s men but saw his effort saved by Robert Burch.
The Red Imps’ best chance of game came from a Stefan Oakes free kick midway through the second half but he was denied by Luke Daniels.
The result means that The Shrews now need to beat Dagenham & Redbridge to secure a spot in the top six.
