Steve Morison’s brace helped ten-man Stevenage assert a 3-1 advantage over Cambridge in their Blue Square Premier play-off semi final.
In the first leg of the clash Stevenage looked to be up against it when Darren Murphy was sent off for violent conduct on the stroke of half time, as the sides went in goalless at the break.
Mark Roberts then nodded the hosts into the lead immediately after the start of the second half, but Lee Phillips levelled matters for Cambridge just two minutes later with a stunning volley.
Morison then headed Stevenage back into the lead as he latched onto a long clearance and he then added his second of the game to put his side firmly in control of the tie.
