Torquay v Histon preview

by Toby Davis , 01 May 2009

The second installment of this season’s Blue Square Premier play-offs sees Torquay take on Histon at Plainmoor in their semi-final first leg.

After Stevenage opened up a 3-1 advantage over Cambridge on Thursday, all eyes are now trained on the English Riviera where the division’s third and fourth placed clubs are set to go head-to-head.

Only goal difference separated the two teams in this season’s final standings and it is likely to be another close encounter.

Torquay come into the game on the back of a morale-boosting win over champions Burton Albion on the final day that almost scuppered the Midlands club’s promotion hopes.

The West Country side have received an injury boost ahead of the game with the news that Tim Sills has been declared fit despite suffering a triple dislocation of his eye socket.

But goalkeeper Scott Bevan is still receiving treatment so Michael Poke will continue where he left off against Burton.

Histon keeper Danny Naisbitt is set to miss the clash after being sent off in the 3-3 draw against Crawley on the final day of the season.

Joe Welch is expected to start in his place, but boss Steve Fallon is likely to name an otherwise unchanged side.
