After the latest round of games in the Premier League, Opta have assessed the performances of the top-flight goalkeepers and reveal who gave the best and worst goalkeeping displays according to their unique statistical analysis.
On Sunday, Liverpool faced West Bromwich Albion, something that on paper looked like an obvious mismatch but that, given that the Reds had just had any last hope of winning the league dashed by Manchester United’s draw against Arsenal and that The Baggies were fighting for their Premier League survival, an upset was certainly a possibility.
Fortunately for the Merseysiders, one man was there to help ensure that this did not happen – José Reina.
Liverpool’s number one was alert to all dangers as West Brom pushed forwards in search of their first-ever Premier League goal against Rafa Benítez’s men, making four saves (three of which were from inside the box) to deny efforts from Greening, Koren and Menseguez and keep his 20th clean sheet of the season, leaving him second only to Edwin van der Sar (21) in this regard

When your side are facing the prospect of relegation, one thing you would hope for your players is that they play at the top of their game for a full 90 minutes. Unfortunately for Sunderland they managed this for only 60 minutes before suffering a catastrophic collapse in the final half hour.
One player who must shoulder part of the blame for the outcome of the match, despite the fault clearly lying with his defenders, was their man at the back, Marton Fulop.
Despite facing only two shots on his goalmouth, the Hungary international still managed to concede three goals in the space of 28 minutes, thanks to Phil Bardsley’s own goal.
Although mainly a bystander in most of Portsmouth’s goals, Fulop failed to make a single save in the match and as a result is our Opta poorest keeper of the week.
