Blackburn are in talks with Marseille ace Modeste M’Bami, his agent has revealed to setanta.com.
While Rovers are searching for a defensive midfielder to replace club legend Tugay, Cameroon international M’Bami has emerged as an option for Sam Allardyce.
The 26-year-old’s contract with L’OM is due to conclude at the end of the season, and his representative, Jean-Christophe Thouvenel, has confirmed that Blackburn are highly interested in his services.
Rovers are apparently admirers of French giants Marseille, as they are trying to thrash out terms of a permanent deal with Gael Givet, and are also believed to be after Argentinian centre back Renato Civelli.
“There is real interest from Blackburn, and we can call it mutual, as Modeste would welcome the possibility of joining them this summer,” Thouvenel told setanta.com.
“Moving to England attracts him and Blackburn are apparently interested in his profile – a sentinel in front of the defence, with an athletic impact.
“But I must say that a Spanish club is also keen on his services. It is another option, but he is happy with the Blackburn possibility.
“I have no idea if they want him to replace another player, or Tugay in particular. We are yet to speak about that.
“Modeste is free agent - there is nothing to pay for him, no transfer fee - and, in terms of work permit, he has a French passport so everything is fine.”
