Baggies 'expect' Mowbray to stay

by Gordon Pope , 28 May 2009

West Bromwich Albion have again rejected speculation linking Tony Mowbray with the manager’s position at Celtic.

Reports in Thursday’s press said that Mowbray was the front-runner to replace Gordon Strachan, as Owen Coyle plans to stay with Burnley.

But the Hawthorns club have reacted by insisting he will fulfil his contract in the Black Country.

“We have already made our position very clear on this situation and it has not changed,” a statement on the club’s website read.

“We have not received an approach from Celtic for Tony Mowbray- nor would we welcome one.

“Tony is under contract for the next two years and we fully expect him to remain as our manager.”
