Atleti's Aguero denies exit talk

by Tom Adams , 29 May 2009

Sergio Aguero has swiftly put to bed renewed speculation that he could be destined for a move to The Premier League by stating his commitment to Atletico Madrid.

The Argentina international has long been mooted as a possible target for England’s biggest clubs and recent reports have claimed that both Chelsea and Manchester City are preparing to make an offer to Atleti.

Aguero is certainly one of Europe’s most in-demand players and has scored 16 goals in 36 league goals to take Atleti to the brink of Champions League qualification, but the 20-year-old forward is unwilling to contemplate leaving the Vicente Calderon.

“I want to continue with Atletico,” Aguero told the Spanish press. “My intention is to stay here and fight for titles.

“I have not had an offer from anywhere and I have always said that I am fond of this club.”

Real Madrid and Inter are also believed to be admirers of Diego Maradona’s son-in-law but the forward says a move to the Bernabeu would be a ‘betrayal’ of Atleti and their fans.
