Reported Blackburn target Renato Civelli has announced his departure from Marseille.
The 25-year-old, who spent the first six months of the season on the bench or in the Stade Velodrome stands, and who was the victim of a sailing accident, is out of contract.
Argentinian centre back Civelli broke into Eric Gerets’ starting XI half way through the season and proved his defensive talent.
But the giant South American failed to reach an agreement regarding a new deal with L’OM and is rumoured to be in touch with Sam Allardyce’s Rovers, who already welcomed a Marseille player in Gael Givet in January.
“I would have loved to stay in Marseille, but this is not going to happen,” Civelli told Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure. “I am out of contract and can choose my new destination.
“You must understand that I aim higher than the Belgian league. I will not join Anderlecht. I prefer the Spanish league, or maybe the English one.”
