Jamaica international Rodolph Austin has described the possibility of a switch to Aston Villa as ‘tempting’, after reportedly being lined up by the Midlands club as a replacement for Manchester City bound Gareth Barry.
The Brann midfielder was set for a switch to Stoke City last summer, but work permit issues prevented him from moving to Britannia Stadium.
The Norwegian club say Villa have attended several games this season, but have yet to open formal talks about signing the player.
The 23-year-old insists he remains committed to the Scandinavian side, but would struggle to turn his back on a move to The Premier League.
Austin told Dagbladet: "All players want to play in The Premier League, so of course, I do too. I didn't know that Aston Villa were here, but even if it is tempting, I am keeping to the contract I have in Brann."
Brann sports director Roald Bruun-Hansen added: "We have given Aston Villa tickets for some of our games, and know of the interest.
"But there are no concrete talks, and far from any offers so we are keeping our pace. It is normal for clubs to look at players and keep an eye on the market at this time."
