Chelsea captain John Terry says his overriding ambition is to win The Champions League.
The Blues were agonisingly beaten on penalties by Manchester United in last year’s final with Terry unluckily slipping to miss the penalty which would have given Chelsea victory.
Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba let their frustrations get the better of them in the semi final second-leg against eventual champions Barcelona, and Terry is just as desperate to get his hands on the huge trophy.
“To win the Champions League, it’s a massive thing for me. With what happened in the Barca game and the final the year before that, it is still hurting,” Terry said.
“We’ll work hard to do our best next year. We’re being linked with players that can maybe take us to that next level.
“As a player at Chelsea I’m happy and delighted that we’re back in for those top players.
“It seems that for a couple of years we haven’t been, but we’re linked with the best players in the world again.”
New Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti won The Champions League twice during his reign at Milan and Terry has spoken to his new manager on the phone.
“He was very excited,” added Terry. “His English was very good. I’m looking forward to getting back for pre-season and working with him.
“A lot of people, in the England squad or outside, speak very highly of him.”
John Terry is currently readying himself for England's World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan which Setanta Sports 1 will be showing live on Saturday June 6. Click here for details on how to sign up to Setanta Sports on Satellite, Freeview or Setanta-i.
