Dundee United manager Craig Levein has rejected stories suggesting he is about to move for Andy Webster.
Reports in Friday morning's press said that the Taysiders were about to provide the defender with an opportunity to get his career back on track.
Webster arrived at Rangers from Wigan in 2007 on loan before making his move permanent, but, after making only one league appearance, his career appears to have stalled.
However the former Hearts defender is unlikely to move to Tannadice any time soon.
“That’s interesting to hear, but it isn’t right because we have not made any moves for Andy Webster,” Levein said in the Evening Telegraph.
“He is someone I know very well from our time together at Hearts and what has happened is that, back in January, Walter Smith and I had a long chat about his situation, but we were not discussing a move.”
The 27-year-old has earned 22 international caps for Scotland and came out of the cold to score for the Scotland ‘B’ squad against Northern Ireland last month, with his last competitive match coming in December whilst on loan at Bristol City.
