Reports of a move to Blackburn for German keeper Gerhard Tremmel are premature, but his agent has told setanta.com that he is working on a transfer to The Premier League for the Energie Cottbus player.
Thirty-year-old shot-stopper Tremmel was linked with a potential switch to Rovers in Friday morning reports in the German media, with Bild speculating the former Hertha Berlin man could be brought in as a replacement for Paul Robinson.
The former Tottenham keeper has been loosely linked with a return to White Hart Lane, resulting in a subsequent search for an experienced man between the sticks.
With Cottbus now relegated to the second tier in Germany, a release clause of €800,000 (£683,000) in Tremmel’s contract has been triggered.
Despite his side’s relegation Tremmel was statistically Europe’s top shot-stopper last season, making 171 saves, and his agent is now seeking an opportunity in England.
“There is nothing fixed yet,” Jurgen Schwab told setanta.com in response to the links with England. “But we have a lawyer in England ready to move if something happens.
“A move to The Premier League is something Gerhard would definitely be interested in. It is correctly reported in Germany that this is a possibility.”
