Standard starlet keen on Reds and Villa

by Toby Davis , 17 June 2009

Standard Liege's Steven Defour would love to play for Liverpool or Aston Villa, according to the Belgian starlet’s agent.

The midfielder has been linked with a switch to The Premier League with Liverpool and Villa reportedly heading the queue of clubs keen to sign him.

The 21-year-old impressed in European games against both Liverpool and Everton at the start of last season and his agent, Paul Stefani, said he would welcome a move to England.

"There has been a lot of interest, but Standard have yet to receive any official bids,” he told Nieuwsblad.

“Aston Villa and Liverpool are great clubs where Steven would certainly enjoy playing.

“Would Standard let him go? Everything depends on the offer. Manchester United said Cristiano would not be sold.”
