Espanyol have confirmed they are expecting an offer from Manchester City for teenage sensation Joan Angel Roman.
But the Pericos have insisted that City cannot sign the player on a free transfer, as they must respect Fifa regulations and agree on the terms of a move.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are apparently ready to allow the promising midfielder join the Eastlands outfit, but they have insisted that he will not go for free.
“RCD Espanyol are still waiting to receive an offer from Manchester City regarding 16-year-old youth team player Joan Angel Ramon’s transfer,” read a club statement.
“The English club have shown interest in signing the midfielder, but they must follow Fifa regulations, which stipulate that both clubs have to reach an agreement so the deal goes through.
“It must be reminded that in England a player cannot have professional status until he turns 17, as a consequence the only option is an agreement between both clubs.”
