Dundee United striker Jon Daly has revealed he could be back playing as soon as September.
The forward suffered damage to his knee ligament against Hibernian in April and, after initially being rule out for 12 months, he is hopeful of returning ahead of schedule.
“When the injury happened, it was estimated I would be out for about a year,” he said in The Daily Record.
“But the way I am feeling at the moment, I think I might even be back by September.
“It’s in my head to be back just after the season starts because I’ve always been a really positive person with that kind of outlook.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself but I’m seeing the specialist again at the start of July and feel as though I’m making pretty good progress.
“It’s never easy coming back from any kind of injury but having been here before I know what’s required to come through the other end.”
He added: “There’s been no adverse reaction but I’ve got to wear the leg brace for another two weeks.
“You never know - I might be back running with the rest of the lads towards the end of pre-season.”
