Chelsea have confirmed that Carlo Cudicini has joined Tottenham on a free transfer.
Setanta Sports revealed last week that Spurs were tracking the Italian keeper and despite Harry Redknapp initially saying he ‘knew nothing’ of the talk, a deal has now been wrapped up.
“Chelsea can confirm that Carlo Cudicini has today signed for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer,” read a statement on Chelsea’s official website.
”The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Carlo for his years of service and wish him well.”
Cudicini makes the move to White Hart Lane on a free transfer and the 35-year-old will compete with Heurelho Gomes for the number one jersey.
He has been playing second fiddle to Petr Cech for some five years and this hands the keeper a genuine chance to claim a regular start.
