Arshavin makes plans for the future

by Chris Stanton , 21 June 2009

Arsenal midfielder Andrei Arshavin has stated his wish to finish his career at former side Zenit St Petersburg.

Arshavin played for Zenit between 2000 and 2009, winning in that time the Russian Premier League, Russian Cup and Uefa Cup.

The seemingly interminable pursuit of Arshavin by a host of Europe’s leading clubs was finally concluded at the end of January this year when Arsenal procured the services of the Russia international.

While he will remain a Gunners player for the foreseeable future, Arshavin expects to return to Zenit in time to finish his playing career at his former club.

"I played for Zenit for a long time, and now I want to play abroad and then return to St Petersburg to finish my career here," the 28-year-old told Radio Zenit.
