Mediate back in the groove

by Gareth Maher , 12 March 2009

Rocco Mediate feels that he has found his rhythm again after starting well at the Puerto Rico Open.

The 46-year-old hit a round of 68 to leave him on four-under on Day One at the Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande.

Mediate has a history of back problems, although he insists he is feeling a lot fresher now and his game has also improved due to some minor changes.

He now hopes to build on his good form and stay in the hunt for the top prize at this event.

"Everything is good. I'm healthy, my knee is doing better, so just trying to play and get my legs under me again," Mediate told Setanta Golf.

"I have a new driver, a new diablo, a new shaft, and somehow I've gotten about fifteen yards longer, which is something I've been looking for over fifteen years.

"It is definitely going better for me. I've been driving it pretty bad all year. I usually do better at that and this is helping me.

"I feel much more stable and it is a lot easier hitting the greens."
