Carl Llewellyn has been sacked as trainer at Weathercock House and replaced by Warren Greatrex.
The Grand National-winning jockey has been the salaried trainer at the yard for three years, but owner Malcolm Denmark has grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of productivity.
Llewellyn will serve out his notice before Greatrex, the current assistant to Oliver Sherwood, takes the reins and he was philosophical about the decision.
”I had lunch with Malcolm on Sunday and he told me that I would be replaced by Warren Greatrex,” Llewellyn told the Racing Post. “He wasn’t happy with the way I was training the horses, which is fair enough.
”I’m certainly not bitter about getting the sack. Malcolm pays the bills and like every employer, if he isn’t happy he makes changes.”
Notable winners for Llewellyn were Run For Paddy in the Scottish Grand National, Roll Along in the United House Chase and Hennessy in the Bet365 Gold Cup.
