US Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin wants as many US players as possible to play on the Celtic Manor course ahead of their defence of the trophy in 2010.
The Wales Open takes place on the course this weekend and while his team is obviously over a year away from being finalised, Pavin wants all contenders to get to know the venue ahead of its 2010 date.
Pavin, speaking at a joint press conference with European captain Colin Montgomerie, says practice on the course can be a big boost for his players, who will be less familiar with it than their European counterparts as things stand.
"It is obviously a little different for us, but what I’m going to do is ask my players who come over for The Open Championship, either before or after, to try to get a couple practice rounds here," said the American team’s 2010 leader.
"I certainly would like my potential players to see the course once or twice before Ryder Cup week."
Montgomerie added that he also want to make sure all his potential players for next year know the score, the Scot adding: "Those potential Ryder Cup players not playing this week, I will be asking them to participate next year.”
