Fred bullish over fitness

by Alex Livie , 04 June 2009

Andrew Flintoff has told Setanta Sports News that he has no doubts he will be fit for the start of the Ashes series with Australia.

The Lancastrian is on the road to recovery following minor surgery on his knee, but the injury has ruled him out of the World Twenty20 which gets underway on Friday.

Flintoff says his recovery is on schedule and is confident of sharpening his tools for Lancashire before the Ashes get underway on July 8.

”I am going to be fit for the Ashes,” Flintoff said on Setanta Sports News. “At this moment in time I am just concentrating on getting back to full fitness.

”In the next week or so I am going to get back into the nets and get my game right. I am confident I will be fine.

”I will have a few games for Lancashire beforehand but it’s so far so good.”
