Calm Storm seals Open berth

Englishman Graeme Strom has sealed a place at this year's British Open after qualifying on Monday.

However, Thomas Bjorn and Thomas Levet both missed out on their places at Turnberry.

The two Thomas’s, both former runners-up in the major, failed to make it through the event at Sunningdale, with Dane Bjorn, missing out on a playoff for the available places by one shot and Levet  - defeated in a playoff in 2002 by Ernie Els - finishing a full seven shots off the pace.

Storm set an eight-under-par 62 course record over the first 18 at Sunningdale before completing a further 18 to finish at ten-under alongside Argentina's Rafa Echenique.

They were the best on show, but a hole in one at tenth from Scotland’s David Drysdale proved to be the shot of the day.

Drysdale was one of three Scots to make it through with Richie Ramsay, impressive again at The Celtic Manor Wales Open at the weekend, taking one of the playoff slots and Gary Orr qualifying earlier.

South African Branden Grace, Welshman Rhys Davies, England's Paul Broadhurst and Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin also qualified, with England’s Oliver Fisher joining Ramsay in coming through a playoff.
