Kenny Perry says that he has learned from his collapse at the US Masters in April, and he is more determined than ever to lift his first Major title.
As the 48-year-old gears up for this weekend's US Open at Bethpage Black, he knows that he cannot let the disappointment of his final holes at the Masters to fester.
Perry was two shots ahead of Angel Cabrera and Chad Campbell with two holes to play at Augusta but bogeyed the 17th and 18th to leave himself in play-off, which Cabrera won.
"I know I can do it," Perry told reporters on Monday while preparing for the second Major of the season.
"It's just I've got to rethink it a little bit when I'm coming down the last couple of holes and not get ahead of myself. But I look forward to the challenge."
Perry added that his overall Masters experience was a positive one, despite his late capitulation.
"It was a good ride. I look forward to the opportunity to try to get in there again. It made me hungrier, basically.
"I've been down a few times," added Perry, who also lost a Major play-off in 1996 at the PGA Championship to fellow American Mark Brooks.
"Kind of like '96, I had that deal done too at the PGA but I just did not quite finish it out. But it just gave me a lot of confidence, it gave me the ability to know that I can do it. I had it."
