by Johnny Ward , 17 June 2009

The Irish Turf Club announced on Wednesday that the steeplechase course at Tipperary was found to be unfit for racing following heavy overnight rain.

As a consequence, the Tipperary Town And District Traders Steeplechase and the Railway Beginners Steeplechase have both been abandoned ahead of the scheduled fixture on Thursday.

It has also been announced that there will be a further 3pm inspection of the hurdle course on Wednesday afternoon to assess the situation.

The hurdle course was raceable on Wednesday morning, with the ground described as soft.

The ground at Leopardstown ahead of Thursday's other fixture has been described as good to yielding.
