The Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA) has a list of venues in place for the first season of its new championship, according to reports.
FOTA recently announced plans to form a rival championship to Formula 1 after failing to reach a resolution with the FIA over the governing body’s proposed regulations for 2010.
The organisers of the breakaway championship plan to visit current F1 venues Silverstone, Monza, Abu Dhabi and Singapore. The series, according to the proposed calendar, will also be taking in Imola, Montreal, Indianapolis, Magny-Cours and Suzuka – all of which were recent omissions from the F1 schedule.
Adelaide’s street circuit, the former home of the Australian Grand Prix, is also a mooted destination for the new championship, along with Spain’s Jerez track.
"Not surprisingly Adelaide has been included because it was very, very popular when it had Formula 1," racing consultant Mike Drewer was quoted as saying by Eurosport.
"But it's a bit like trying to work out who might be the members of a cabinet if there was a change in government."
