Ulster and Munster reach final

by setanta staff , 25 October 2009

Both Ulster and Munster are through to next month's M Donnelly Interprovincial Football final at Ruislip, London, after victories over Leinster and Connacht respectively.

Joe Kernan's Ulster side were 1-9 to 1-2 down at half-time but harnessed a gusting gale in the second half to outscore the opposition by twelve points to one at Crossmaglen, and eventually ran out 1-14 to 1-10 winners. A healthy crowd of 2,000 was present.

Meanwhile, a much smaller attendance of 300 witnessed Munster edging out Connacht 1-13 to 1-10 in atrocious weather conditions in Limerick. An excellent goal from local star Pa Ranahan on the stroke of half time pushed the southerners into a 1-9 to 1-3 interval lead, and the lead had stretched out to seven points early in the second half.
