Ó Sé learns from discipline breach

by GAA Staff , 28 October 2009

Tómas Ó Sé admits he was wrong to go drinking with Colm Cooper following Kerry's All-Ireland qualifier win over Sligo during the summer.

The breach of discipline resulted in Jack O'Connor dropping the pair for the match against Antrim the following weekend, although they were brought on as substitutes during the match.

After serving out their punishment the pair went on to play key roles in Kerry's All-Ireland triumph and months after the issue Ó Sé admits he has learned his lesson.

"It just happened. We were wrong in what we did and the two of us would be the first to acknowledge that. There's no sour grapes about the way we were dropped - we knew rules are rules, and you have to abide them," he is quoted as saying in the Irish Mirror.

"We were delighted first of all that we got over Antrim, because there was a stage in that match when it looked fairly hairy.

"We were delighted that we got the second chance and we took it when we got it. For what we did, we were hung and quartered. I had no problem accepting the discipline that was handed out. It was dealt with quickly and I just wish it had stayed in house."
