Ken Brown believes that Henrik Stenson's victory at the Players Championship at Sawgrass is the springboard for Major success.
His last round at Sawgrass was superb – you won’t see a better round all year. He was hitting the ball so flush – every time he thought he wanted to hit it at a certain point, it went there.
He hit 26 to 28 fairways over the last two days, in treacherous conditions where the margins of error were so small.
When he is striking the ball with the three-wood, a club that he is so powerful with, he can hit the ball over 300 yards. That is a tremendous weapon.
There is no doubt that he can take his game to the next level, and start to think of winning majors in the future. The Players Championship is a semi-major, he has played all the world’s top players this week.
When he first took up the game, and came on the Tour, he had quite a fiery temper, and really had to work to achieve that calm manner he has now.
He is already in the top ten in the world, so he is already making the step in the right direction. He finished in the top ten of three of the majors in 2008. He will be there or thereabouts in the big tournaments over the next five years.
