The next great Australian
Jason Day has played 28 events, made 15 cuts, so that's all adding to the pot. This has been a big week. He would have known coming in this week that this was his chance on the PGA Tour and, at the Puerto Rico Open, he's gone a long way towards proving himself with the big boys.
He's been labelled from an early age. He's won the Australian Championships, the World Juniors, really from an early age it's been 'Jason Day is the next Greg Norman, the next Australian who's going to take the world on.'
We've seen so many great Aussies playing on the PGA Tour, he's just the next in line and good luck to him.
It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, he can control what he thinks and that's the important thing. If he goes out there thinking he's going to be number one, then that's what he's got to do.
He's got to go out there thinking 'Tiger's number one, that's where I want to be, and I can do that. I'm going to work hard towards that.' And [his performance at the Puerto Rico Open] has been a massive step towards that goal.
