Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction to being substituted while Manchester United were two goals up against Manchester City at the weekend was unbelievable.
I just can’t understand his reaction. You’re obviously disappointed when you come off the field, but Sir Alex Ferguson has not brought him off for any reason other than to rest him for the big games ahead.
Cristiano Ronaldo plays for himself. He always does.
I personally believe that he needs to grow up a little bit. I think he’s trying to engineer himself a move away from the club.
He knows that, with the performances he’s put in this year, he’s going to be a key player in all United’s big games in the remainder of the season and he’ll look to leave in the summer.
Carlos Tevez, on the other hand, is definitely a team player.
I think he’s exceptional.
When he’s not got the ball, he sets the tempo for them – he chases down like Ian Rush or Peter Beardsley used to do in the old days.
He doesn’t give you a minute to settle on the ball and he scores goals.
Whether he’s worth £30 million is debatable, but that’s the price that has been set.
I’m sure he’ll have plenty of other offers if United don’t offer to take him – and it looks like they’re not going to.
Manchester City are said to be interested and I think if he does stay England then, somewhere along the line, he’ll come back to haunt United.
