Sunderland chief Steve Bruce has told Leicester City to forget about trying to sign loan striker Martyn Waghorn on a permanent basis.
Waghorn, 19, has impressed during his loan spell at the Walkers Stadium with seven goals and Bruce admits he has been following his progress closely.
And rather than sell the Academy product to the Foxes, Bruce insists Waghorn will be a key part of his plans on Wearside next season.
"There's been no communication between myself and Nigel Pearson and [a move] won't come into the equation," he said.
"We sent him there to get some experience - a bit like Jordan Henderson - and the kid's doing very, very well indeed.
"I wouldn't entertain a permanent move. Next year I have him earmarked as being one my strikers because I have been delighted with his progress.
"I don't think a move is a goer."
