Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed Wayne Rooney is a big doubt for the clash against AC Milan with a knee injury.
Rooney was forced to miss Saturday's 1-0 victory over Wolves with the problem he picked up playing for England in midweek and Ferguson now says he is doubtful for the Champions League showdown with Milan.
"It wasn't looking good from when he got back on Thursday - his knee was swollen," Ferguson revealed. "He's a doubt for Wednesday now, which is a bigger problem for us."
Ferguson is still unhappy with the fact Rooney played 85 minutes for Fabio Capello's men against Egypt on Wednesday night but is blaming the player not the England boss.
"I don't think he should have played," said Ferguson. "It is his own enthusiasm that has caused it. His problem is that he can't say no."
