Wayne Rooney is fit to face AC Milan in Wednesday's decisive Champions League last 16 second leg game as the Rossoneri visit Old Trafford 3-2 in arrears after Rooney scored twice at the San Siro three weeks ago.
United's star man trained on Tuesday after missing the weekend win at Wolves with the knee injury he aggravated on England duty last week, and afterwards manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that the 28-goal striker is fit to take on the Italian outfit.
Rooney may partner Dimitar Berbatov in a two-man attack, though if Ferguson chooses to go 4-3-3 then there could be a massive night in midfield for Darron Gibson alongside Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes. Michael Carrick is suspended, while Ji Sung Park, Antonio Valencia and Nani will vie for the wide spots.
The game has come too soon for Ryan Giggs to recover from a broken arm and Wes Brown is out for four to six weeks with a broken metatarsal. Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic should partner each other in central defence.
Milan striker Alex Pato should be fit after missing the weekend draw with Roma with a thigh injury.
Elsewhere, Gennaro Gattuso and Clarence Seedorf are available after a ban and a minor knock respectively, but the midfielder all eyes will be on is David Beckham as the former United darling makes his first playing return to Old Trafford since leaving for Real Madrid nearly seven years ago.
