Wolves won themselves a crucial three points on the road with a 2-1 Premier League win over Burnley at Turf Moor.
Matt Jarvis put the visitors ahead in the 26th minute and a Clarke Carlisle own goal doubled the score, but a 73rd-minute header from Burnley substitute Steven Thompson set up a nervy denouement for the visitors.
Wolves took the lead in the 26th minute thanks to an error from Tyrone Mears, with the Burnley defender's back-header dropping short and allowing Jarvis to rush in and round Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen before dribbling the ball into the empty net.
Burnley came close in the 44th minute when Mears almost atoned for his earlier error when he knocked the ball down in the box for David Nugent, but the former England international's shot from eight yards bounced into the turf then up against the bar.
Wolves doubled their score with their first attack of the second half when Adlene Guedioura's shot deflected off Carlisle and past Jensen.
Wolves almost made it three in the 59th minute but Kevin Doyle's shot from a Karl Henry pass trickled past the post.
Burnley roared back, and substitute Robbie Blake hit the post for the home side from a tight angle in the 65th minute, before Thompson levelled eight minutes later from a Graham Alexander cross.
Blake then had a great chance in injury time from eight yards, but Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann parried from point-blank range.
