Boss praises midfield star

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has heaped the praise on midfielder Fabrice Muamba, who scored his first goal for the club on Saturday.

Muamba joined Bolton in June 2008 in a £5million deal from Birmingham City but has struggled to find the net since his move to the Reebok.

However, the 21-year-old scored the Wanderers' third goal on Saturday as they defeated Wigan Athletic 4-0 and Coyle admits he was delighted the youngster managed to find the net.

The Bolton boss was full of praise for the England under-21 international and believes Muamba will continue to improve as a player.

He said: "I thought the quality of the goal was outstanding - the stepover and then the finish. My only concern was when he started running towards me. "

I thought surely he is not going to jump me, knowing my physique.

I managed to cope with that all right.

I was so delighted for him.

"I have tried to encourage him to be positive and bring all the qualities he has. He has been outstanding for me since I came here. There is so much scope for him. "

He is a young English player, which is brilliant, and he is getting better and better."
