Hull's hopes of persuading Tom Cairney to sign a new deal at the club look unlikely after Phil Brown was ordered not to contact him.
The Tigers boss has been told by the 19-year-old's legal representatives not to contact the player after they tried to open negotiations over a new deal, his present contract has a year to run.
The latest developments have left Brown confused and he believes the player is taking bad advice and should be listening to the personal at Hull rather than anyone else.
"Tom has taken advice from an unlicensed and unregistered agent hiding under the umbrella of a solicitor and we are not allowed to talk to their client," Brown told The Sun.
"So Tom was left out against Arsenal and I could not tell him that he had been dropped!
"Unfortunately, he is taking advice from the wrong people.
"He should be listening to me, the chairman, the backroom staff and the players."
