Phil Jagielka is hoping to top off his comeback from injury by earning a recall into Fabio Capello's England World Cup squad.
Prior to a cruciate knee injury that kept him out of the side since April last year Jagielka was a regular in the England set up and now he is keen to try and get back into the squad.
Having already slotted back into David Moyes' side Jags is looking to do the same at international level.
"When I had the operation I thought it would mean being out for six to eight months so I thought I would have a sniff of the World Cup, but in fact it was 10 months out," he said.
"I would love to be on the plane to South Africa but realistically my return has come a couple of months too late.
"I can't expect to be in the squad but I will work with the physios and fitness coaches at Everton and see how I get on.
"I might get 10 games until the end of the season and if that is good enough that will be brilliant. If not I will put my England shirt on in the summer and support the boys.
"So I will have an England shirt on one way or another - either supporting or playing.
"But I have been out for a long time so I would never wish anyone else an injury or get excited when someone does get injured."
