Park spurred on by final snub

by Admin , 16 March 2010 Park spurred on by final snub

Park Ji-sung says he never once considered quitting Manchester United even when he was overlooked for the 2008 Champions League final.

The South Korea star won't deny that it hurt him being left out of that night in Moscow, and after often been used as a squad player by Sir Alex Ferguson, the prospect of the 29-year-old leaving Manchester was a real one.

But the former PSV Eindhoven man says the whole experience made him even more determined to be a success at Old Trafford rather than to look for an escape route.

He said: "That night was a big disappointment for me. I didn't want to leave because I felt I could do more to make it at United. That is why I stayed. "

I felt it would eventually happen and I believed we would reach another Champions League final, I just didn't expect it to be the following year."

However, on that occasion United's hopes of retaining the trophy were wrecked in Rome by Barcelona, leaving Park even hungrier for success this season.
