Caldwell ready to take on brother

Burnley captain Steven Caldwell says there will be no room for any brotherly love when he takes on Wigan on Saturday.

In what is a crunch clash for both sides Caldwell will be up against his brother Gary, who looks set to be part of the Latics defence, as long as he wins his fitness battle with the signs looking good for the skipper.

He admits taking on his younger brother will be strange, telling the club's website: "I have never played against Gary or been at clubs where we've had a game against each other, so it's a new experience for us.

"We have been team-mates at Newcastle in the reserves and we have been fortunate to have played for Scotland, but it will be a little bit strange because we speak to each other every day about opponents and teams and different things about football.

"So it will be a bit strange to have calm down the chat about each other's teams because we don't want to be giving each other inside info!

"I think that will be quite awkward, but nothing matters until a minute to three on Saturday and then who wants to win more.

"I think that's what football comes down to, the need to win a game. We both need it and it's who wants it more on the day."
