Bohs bank on youth for Linfield tie

by Tony Cuddihy , 19 April 2010

Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon will have to rely on some of his younger, fringe players for the Setanta Sports Cup semi-final, second leg against Linfield at Windsor Park.

The Dublin side have three former Derry City players cup-tied for the clash, in the shape of Steven Gray, Gareth McGlynn and Ruaidhri Higgins, while Mark Rossiter and Anto Murphy are likely to be sidelined with hamstring and Achilles injuries respectively.

Under-20 players Gary Burke and Stephen Traynor are on stand-by, with winger Burke having come on as a second half substitute during the first leg at Dalymount Park.

Bohemians won the first leg 2-1 thanks to goals from Ken Oman and Raffaele Cretaro but are coming off the back of the second league defeat in a row, against Galway in Dublin on Friday.

"It's a hard place to go and win," said Pat Fenlon. "We're a goal up but we're going to have to play a lot better than we did against Galway if we're to get anything out of it."

Linfield, meanwhile, are riding the crest of a wave going into Monday night's game. David Jeffrey's side won an eventful Irish cup tie over Coleraine at the weekend to reach the final, while they will wrap up yet another league title with a victory over Crusaders next Saturday.
