South Africa's Jaque Fourie has received a four-week ban following his side's 30-13 defeat by Australia in Brisbane.

Fourie was sin-binned for a dangerous spear tackle on Australia's Richard Brown in the second minute of a tumultuous match.

South Africa's BJ Botha was also sin-binned, while Australia's fly-half Quade Cooper has picked up a two-week suspension after being cited for a dangerous tackle on Boks' Francois Steyn.

The Springboks, as defending champions, have endured a poor start to their Tri-Nations campaign suffering defeat in all of their first three games.

Lack of discipline has marred the Boks' campaign, with lock Bakkies Botha being banned for nine weeks following a head butting offence during the opening fixture against New Zealand.

Winger Jean de Villiers is also suspended, receiving a two-week ban, for a dangerous tackle during South Africa's second fixture against the Kiwis.

South Africa's coach Peter de Villiers has recently come out and hinted at a refereeing 'conspiracy' against his players following the two fractious games against New Zealand. The outspoken de Villiers said: "Maybe I can't say it in public but there's a World Cup in New Zealand next year. Maybe it's the right thing for them to win the games to attract more people to the games next year."

However, de Villiers was later to retract the comments in a statement released by the South Africa Rugby Union.

In the aftermath of Saturday's game against the Wallabies Boks' skipper Jon Smit placed the blame solely on his players: "We were poor against the Wallabies and we have to be honest with ourselves. We haven't actually played our game yet and we have ourselves to blame for all three defeats."
