Jim McGuinness is the new manager of the Donegal senior football team after being ratified in the post on Monday evening.
McGuinness led the Tir Chonaill's younger generation to the U21 All-Ireland final this year, a game in which they were just beaten by Dublin. He received unanimous approval for the senior post from the Donegal executive after being the only named put forward at Monday's meeting.
Donegal were without a manager after John Joe Doherty's decision to step down following the county's meek exit from the championship at the hands of Armagh and McGuinness, who is reportedly keen to also retain his U21 role, has long been tipped for the job.
Peter McGinley, Maxi Curran and Pat Shovlin are set to form the Naomh Chonaill clubman's backroom team after he was offered a four-year deal with a two-year review.
