Former Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has been confirmed as Fulham's new manager on a two-year contract.
The Cottagers had been set to appoint Martin Jol as Roy Hodgson's successor last week but the Dutchman decided to remain at current club Ajax.
As a result, Fulham turned their attention to Hughes, who has been out of the game since being sacked by Manchester City last December.
After a hugely successful playing career, Hughes turned his attention to management in 1999, taking up the post of Wales boss before moving into club football five years later with Blackburn Rovers.
Despite modest resources at Ewood Park, Hughes transformed Rovers into one of the most combative and consistent sides in the Premier League.
That brought him to the attention of Manchester City, who named him as their new boss in 2008.
Hughes was given unlimited funds after the club's takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group but he was unable to provide the owners with the instant success which they desired and paid the price with his job.
