Steve Coppell has refused to rule out the possibility of signing England international goalkeeper David James from Portsmouth.
The 39-year-old is available on a free transfer after he failed to agree a contract extension with the financial stricken club.
James was in line to join Celtic last week until the transfer fell through and he is now on the look out for a new club, with Bristol City supposedly interested in bringing him in.
Coppell has refused to deny that the Robins are after James, but says he won't comment on any deal until it has been completed.
"I can't confirm or deny that," said Coppell.
"I never talk about individual names. If a deal is done I will speak about it."
