Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed his interest in Manchester City's Craig Bellamy but is doubtful a deal will be completed.
Redknapp has long been linked with a swoop for the Wales international and the Tottenham chief revealed he has asked the chairman Daniel Levy to try and convince Bellamy to move to White Hart Lane.
However, following Spurs' 4-1 friendly defeat at the hands of Spanish side Villarreal last night, Redknapp revealed he was unsure if a deal would go ahead.
"I like Craig Bellamy but I don't know if they (City) would sell him," Redknapp said.
"The chairman deals with all the transfers. He asks me what I want and I tell him. I don't know where he's at with Bellamy, if anywhere."
Despite Redknapp's claims that City may wish to retain his services it does seem as if the 31-year-old is surplus to requirements at Eastlands.
Premier League clubs must now name a 25-man squad for the first half of the season and, following City's summer spending spree, Bellamy could be set to move on, with the former Blackburn man now competing with Spanish international David Silva for a place in the starting XI.
If City do decide to cash in on Bellamy the likes of Fulham, now managed by Mark Hughes who signed the forward for City, and Cardiff City have also been linked with a move for the Welsh international and Spurs will face a battle to secure his signature.
