Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is eager to snap up Portsmouth striker David Nugent but faces competition from Wigan Athletic.
The once-capped Englishman has been widely tipped to depart Fratton Park before the transfer window closes later today and reports suggest Blackpool are in talks over a possible deal.
However, Holloway will face a battle to capture the player with Wigan also thought to be keen.
Meanwhile, Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed winger Matt Phillips has sealed a move to Blackpool for a potential £700,000 fee.
It emerged on Monday that Phillips was on the verge of a switch to Bloomfield Road and the Seasiders have now paid £325,000 up front for the promising 19-year-old, with the fee set to rise dependant on whether or not Blackpool can retain their Premier League status.
Wycombe have also revealed they will receive a 'generous' sell on fee if the player leaves Blackpool on their official website.
