A report in the Irish Independent suggests that Monaghan county board officials have met with current Wicklow boss Mick O'Dwyer over the last number of days.
The deadline for nominations to replace Seamus McEnaney was six o'clock on Friday evening and, even though the outgoing boss has ruled himself out of the continuing, it is believed the Corduff man has been nominated by several clubs in the Farney County.
Speculation has linked Waterville legend O'Dwyer with the hot seat in a number of other counties since Wicklow exited the championship at the hands of Cavan.
However, the man who masterminded Wicklow's most successful ever campaign never ruled out remaining with the Garden County and recently asked for a further 10 days to ponder his future.
